Thank you my friend, that was a beautifully simple way to request us. I have the pleasure of speaking to you this day and one opportunity I welcome.

What does appreciation mean to you? Write the words that describe appreciation. I’ll wait, have no fear.

SATISFACTION

I’ve jumped in as your mind became silent. You chose three great words to describe appreciation. The odd one of those three is happiness. Would you consider that happiness only comes from appreciation? Your mind is suggesting yes. And you would be correct. Interesting don’t you think? 

The other day in your time, you wrote a speaker’s message about happiness. When you have a moment, re-read those words and check how many times the word or topic of appreciation was mentioned. Surely then, does that suggest an entire cause of happiness was overlooked?

Have you noticed that the older you become, the more the simpler things in life become more important, especially considering most are related to happiness and appreciation. The air that you breath. The light that shines on your world. The friendships and the food on the table. The sounds around you. The sensations from touch. The aromas and the glorious smell of the fallen rain. These are the things that when appreciated with a sense of focus, bring happiness. And what does translate to? Inner peace. Is that not the greatest aspect of a life one can wish for? 

I would love it if everyone that reads my words were to take time each morning and each evening to mentally focus on what it is they have to appreciate for the day ahead and what from the day they appreciate most. Here’s a big clue to why this exercise will always work: Because there is always something, no matter how adverse or meaningless, to appreciate and in doing so be blessed with.

This my friend, is how to become more aware of your presence. Not just to live in the space your body takes up, but to see it and its relationship with the surroundings. Appreciate the neighbouring things that bring a sense of appreciation. Tell me, how poor would any day be without a sense of appreciation for what it has brought to you? The phrase my medium often refers to is happy-discontent. I absolutely disapprove of its use. More so, I am upset that some people choose to live their life in such a frame of being. The two words should not be connected and that is why I dislike the phrase. I would never use it.

If someone believes someone else is, as you say, seeming to be happy yet discontent in that state, they are waiting for you to show them something to appreciate. It may just be your presence, or the beauty of the weather. There is always something to appreciate.

Appreciation radiates happiness, peace and love. Why not share that with those you encounter this day. Would the world not become a better place for all concerned?
