THE MESSAGE

Transcribed on 22nd May 2025 @ 4:30pm

Hello again. Depending on how good your memory is, you may recall a few years ago, I connected to you and talked about comfort zones. I’m going to continue that topic and include a refresher for any of your readers that never read the original.

When I talk to you about comfort zones, I do so as someone that lived on earth in them and didn’t realise until later, when it was too late for me. So believe me, I know what I’m talking about.

I used to have a decent but hard work job in the printers factory in our town in Kansas. There was a lot of heavy lifting, and sometimes the working hours were staggered. I often worked 60-80 hours every week, and one day every weekend. No, it wasn’t well paid, but at the time it was a secure job.

Whenever I got home from work I couldn’t face anything else. I was wiped out. It had been known for me to fall asleep at the kitchen table. This annoyed my wife, who’d obviously worked hard to prepare my meal. But, I was just tired all the time. Once I had walked through the factory gates my body seemed to know the work was over and, as if some automatic trigger, I became tired.

I never had time for my two boys let alone my wife. We never had holidays and there was no leisure activities in our lives. My garden was a mess and some rooms in the house looked scruffy from not being decorated for years.

Even though you might not consider it the same, my work, going home and sleeping was my comfort zone. It was all I knew and all I had the energy for. Opportunities to go places with the boys and wife did arise now and then but I could never face it. Pleasures were out of my comfort zone.

My children more or less grew up without a father to love and share time with. I was always moody and intolerant. I didn’t know anything other than working hard and bringing money home for the family.

One day everything changed. My arm got trapped in a machine at work and it had to be amputated on the spot where it happened. My job demanded the use of both hands and without my right arm I was incompetent for the job. They laid me off.

I won’t bore you with all the details of what happened after that, suffice I went down hill, mentally. Months later, I decided to end my life and jumped off a local bridge into the rapid flowing river 100 feet below.

My comfort zone of working had been taken from me and I felt worthless. I had created huge family finance issues and one day I thought enough is enough.

I’ve since come to terms with my actions and have had outstanding help here to adjust me back to normal. Of course I have my limb back now in its new form for here.

You see, my dear friends, often when you’re told to get out of your comfort zones, you associate it with having to do something you’re fearing. That is true of course, but it might be, as it was in my case, that you don’t even recognize that your life is like a comfort zone that you can’t escape. Believe me, you can, and most certainly should.

There is so much of my earth life that I missed out on. I didn’t recognise that working long hours was indeed my comfort zone. Don’t do the same, please. No job or no situation is worth sticking with at the expense of a balanced and varied life. And varied does mean doing things out of your comfort zone.

My family have all grown up and had their own children now. My old wife is still alive and is one of the best great grandmothers ever. I do keep an eye on them from time to time. They’ve all done better with their lives than I did.

Please my friends, take my advice this day. Recognise those comfort zones and don’t let them be all you have to live for. The better life is outside of them, and there’s never anything to stop you exploring it.

Thank you for writing so well, a lovely experience for me. My love to you all.

Goodbye

[10 MINUTES AFTER FINISHING THIS SESSION, I PICKED UP MY BOOK  TO CONTINUE  READING. I TURNED THE PAGE WHERE I’D LEFT IT, CONTAINING THE LAST SHORT PARAGRAPH OF THE CHAPTER. THE NEXT CHAPTER BEGAN WITH THESE WORDS:

“AUTHOR NEALE DONALD WALSCH COINED THE PHRASE,” LIFE BEGINS AT THE END OF OUR COMFORT ZONE. FEW TRUER WORDS HAVE EVER BEEN SPOKEN.”

SOURCERY 109: 13 Rungs To A Higher Elevation of Consciousness: Sixth Rung]
